A Celebration of 47 Years At Rutgers University
Celebrating 47 years of service to Rutgers University, I conceptualized an event showcasing the career of the Equine Science Center’s Founding Director, Dr. Karyn Malinowski. Through printed news articles and pictures displayed throughout the room, as well as a projected slideshow, attendees could see the impact Dr. Malinowski had not only on the university but also on the international equine community.
Decor and setup were done by me, with the help of student workers and volunteers. The celebration’s decor featured black and white (highlighting Dr. Malinowski’s love of dalmations), while the overall theme was a mix of a sophisticated garden party and a space that you could see at the Kentucky Derby.

Special guests included: Dean of the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences and Executive Director of New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station, Executive Dean Laura Lawson, and former Executive Dean Bob Goodman; the Dean of Research for the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences and Director of Research for New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station, Dr. Josh Kohut; Director of Rutgers Cooperative Extension and Senior Associate Director of the New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station, Dr. Brian Schilling; and Chair of the Department of Animal Sciences, Dr. Nick Bello, who all gave speaches highlighting just some of the many accomplishments of Dr. Malinowski over her time at Rutgers.
Horses 2017: The Best Of The Best
As a part of the Equine Science Center’s 15th Anniversary, I led the organization of a weekend-long extravaganza. This included everything from conceptualization to sponsor management, design of all materials, space layout and organization, team management, VIP coordination (including a special cocktail hour), creation of a staff uniform, and everything else that goes into planning and running an event of this magnitude.

The weekend-long seminar was titled “Horses 2017: The Best of the Best,” and invited back speakers from many of the events that the Center had hosted over the years. Topics like saddle-fit, pasture and manure management, and horse care 101 were just a few of the many topics covered throughout the weekend.
Keynote speakers opened the event each morning, and guests could choose their own courses throughout the day based on their interests.
Each day closed with the ever-popular “Ask the Experts” panel, where attendees could ask questions they had come up with during the presentations or bring their own personal questions for the experts to answer.
