Starting in 2014 at the Equine Science Center as a Graphic Designer & Administrative Assistant, I was only two weeks into my first full-time job when my supervisor submitted her two-week notice, leaving the Center without a Public Relations Specialist. Quickly assuming the responsibilities, the Center Director was impressed with my work, and I was promoted to Public Relations Specialist.
In 2023, after my key duties and responsibilities at the Center expanded, I applied for a reclassification and was promoted to Manager of Special Programs & Events. In the years in between, I have found a passion for helping to translate the science of the Equine Science Center to an accessible level that allows a wide variety of our constituents to understand, and better yet, engage with, our information.
Being self-taught in the various roles of my job has also enabled me to quickly adapt to the changing responsibilities that have arisen over the years. Leadership and Strategic Planning, Academic and Community Engagement, Operations and Administrative Oversight, and Fundraising and Donor Relations are just some of the many responsibilities added to my portfolio, and I can honestly say I have enjoyed every moment of it. Every day is an adventure, and an opportunity to learn something new or engage with a new project.
